The Legend of the “Hunger Stone”

In the Mündesee lake near Angermünde, just behind the restaurant, there is a boulder called the “Hungerstein” lying on a sandbar beneath the water’s surface.

In dry summers, when the water level dropped and the harvest was poor, the residents of Angermünde could see it back then. As its name suggests, it symbolizes times of drought and the looming threat of famine.
