Buchenwald Grumsin WelterbeBus
Angermünde, a hidden gem with its restored historic old town, surrounded by the Unteres Odertal National Park and the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve, invites visitors starting in the spring offers a wide variety of interesting experiences.
The WelterbeBus is a bus route (497) that, starting April 1, 2026, will transport visitors from the Angermünde train station to various destinations in the surrounding area, including the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site Buchenwald Grumsin, thereby providing an environmentally friendly and convenient way to get there.
The Perfect Connection
Its excellent connections to Berlin and Szczecin make the Angermünde region a local recreation area offering a diverse mix of “city, cultural landscape, and wilderness.”
Visitors can take the WelterbeBus Grumsin (Line 497) from the Angermünde train station to the Buchenwald Grumsin UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site every hour starting at 9:40 a.m. on weekends (and at 10:40 a.m. on weekdays).
The bus runs several times a day until October 31, 2026, to the most beautiful destinations around Angermünde and as far as Wolletz.
Hemme Milch Adventure Farm: A Special Place to Visit
The Hemme Milch Hof is located in Schmargendorf in the beautiful Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve, not far from the Buchenwald Grumsin, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.
From a blade of grass to the finished yogurt, everything at Hemme comes from a single source. On the farm, Gunnar Hemme runs a milk shop and farm café in addition to the agricultural operation and the dairy.
New: Schmargendorf Now Accessible on Weekdays via the WelterbeBus Grumsin
There’s an important change for the WelterbeBus Grumsin: Starting immediately, the bus will make a direct stop in Schmargendorf on weekdays. Previously, only the stop near Hemme Milch—which is located slightly outside the village itself—was served. Now, for the first time, a direct connection to the village is available—a real benefit for visitors and locals alike.
