"SP A C E D OU T" Gallery at Gut Kerkow
The “SP A C E D OU T” art gallery at Gut Kerkow is located in the spartan setting of a granary with wooden beams and wooden floorboards. The founders, Jochen and Christof Beutgen—co-owners of Gut Kerkow—aim to bring international art out of the elitist glamour of big-city galleries and into the rustic former hayloft of the farm, making it accessible to everyone in a relaxed setting. Here, the city meets the village, and international art encounters down-to-earth rural culture—without boundaries, without reservations, and with free admission. The few large-format panels float in the high-ceilinged space beneath the rustic wooden beam structure, without overwhelming the room or distracting from the architecture. Up here, you can feel unobserved; you can come, linger, and leave as you please. You can doubt, marvel, and dream. Those who open themselves up to it can experience art as something grand that, even in the old barn, doesn’t seem out of place—especially not when you descend afterward back into the down-to-earth reality of the farmyard with cows and tractors.
