Resilience Days with Donkeys
Donkey Retreat Days – Mindfulness and Relaxation in the Uckermark
If you’re looking to truly slow down and have a special experience, Stolzenhagen has just the thing for you: the rESELienztage with donkeys. Located right in the Unteres Odertal National Park, amidst the expansive landscapes of the Uckermark, animal-assisted workshops invite you to recharge your batteries—with gentle long-eared friends by your side.
Staying Healthy with Help from Animals
The term “resilience” refers to the ability to maintain mental well-being even in stressful situations. The rESELienztage – Staying Healthy with Donkeys program combines this theme with the experience of being in nature: Hiking, mindfulness, slowing down, and close interaction with the donkeys help you find inner peace. Whether as a day trip or part of a vacation in Brandenburg—this unique experience offers lasting relaxation.
Workshop Agenda: Nature, Animals, and New Perspectives
In addition to getting to know the donkeys, doing exercises in the meadow, and taking short donkey hikes to the Oder River, the program also includes theoretical sessions on resilience and reflections around the campfire.
Mindfulness Meets Nature Tourism
Unteres Odertal National Park, animals, physical activity, and interaction—this combination creates a space where people can get to know themselves better. The donkeys’ “stubborn” behavior quickly turns out to be honest feedback that encourages reflection. Every donkey has its own personality, just like us humans.
Resilience coach Inga Schewe and biologist Sarah Fuchs guide the process professionally and with compassion. This animal-assisted activity offers new ways to cope with the challenges of everyday life—a valuable experience, especially for people under a great deal of stress.
More than just a class—an eye-opening experience for body and soul
In the end, participants return home transformed. The combination of outdoor activities, mindful interaction with animals, and personal growth makes this event particularly memorable. It is an example of how tourism in Brandenburg can offer both relaxation and deeper insights.
Conclusion: The rESELienztage with donkeys offer a refreshing blend of vacation, hiking, nature, tranquility, and learning. A special experience for anyone who travels mindfully or simply wants to find some peace and quiet—right in the Uckermark, very close to Berlin.

Here's what participants have to say:
Silke Galla: Spending two days in nature with those wonderful donkeys gave me strength, helped me reflect on my daily life, and allowed me to try out new coping strategies. Sometimes the donkey kept going, even when I thought I couldn’t go on anymore, that we’d never be able to meet the challenge. And then, after all…
Barbara Probst: What I found fascinating was that every participant found their donkey—or rather, the donkeys chose us with remarkable accuracy. Empowered by the donkeys’ input, as well as by the expert guidance and feedback from Sarah (donkey) and Inga (human), I’m confident that I’ll be able to benefit from this in my everyday life as well.
