Kunstschmiede Schwuchow

The Art of Blacksmithing Alive in Angermünde—For Over 60 Years
The Kunstschmiede Schwuchow is a unique place in Angermünde where the fascination with the ancient craft of blacksmithing is still brought to life with heart and skill. Master blacksmith Wilfried Schwuchow—now over 80 years old—has been working with fire, iron, and imagination for more than six decades. Together with his son Paul, the forge is now being carried on into its second generation—with a breath of fresh air and a clear goal: to make craftsmanship visible, tangible, and experiential. Whether it’s artistic clocks like the Angermünde Clock or the Flower Clock, Schwuchow Stars, metal sculptures, or large-scale works like “St. Mary’s Church in God’s Hands”—in the workshop, every piece becomes a one-of-a-kind creation with a soul. Visitors can expect a lovingly designed ensemble comprising the workshop, the blacksmith’s garden, and the exhibition area.

An Experience for All the Senses
Guided tours are held regularly—here, guests can not only marvel at the sights but also try their hand at swinging the hammer. Stories from the blacksmith’s eventful life, coffee and cake in the blacksmith’s garden, and fascinating films about the Schwuchow family’s work and legacy make a visit here a truly memorable experience.

A Place with a Vision
The new exhibition hall is becoming a gathering place for people of all generations—featuring educational programs for school groups, projects involving people with disabilities or a history of addiction, and creative events centered on the arts and crafts.
