Discover Grumsin
On a leisurely 1.5- to 2-hour hike, you’ll get to know and fall in love with the vibrant Buchenwald Grumsin along the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.
Take the WelterbeBus Grumsin (runs from April through October) from Angermünde to the Luisenhof stop.
The turquoise “G” with a beech leaf will guide you through the forest on a winding, undulating path all the way to Altkünkendorf. A wonderful little corner of the world awaits you.
Louisenhof No. 2
The Tucholke-Bonnet couple’s art barn is located along the way. Artistry as far as the eye can see. Often crafted from found objects or old tools. A wonderful place for a creative break with coffee and cake. More info: www.loisenhof2.de
The Buchenwald Grumsin Information Center in Altkünkendorf provides information about the flora and fauna of the Grumsin, as well as its history and significance.
A Feast for All the Senses
Thomas Blätterlein, founder of the Grumsiner Brennerei, is passionate about his work. Inspired by biodiversity-rich wild hedgerows, abandoned orchard meadows, and long-forgotten varieties of grains and fruits, he creates natural, fine brandies and liqueurs.
The Association for the Preservation and Recultivation of Crop Plants (VERN e.V.) in Greiffenberg is an important partner for the
distillery. More information: www.vern.de
The best way to experience Grumsin is right there on site. The host provides a passionate and entertaining introduction to this ancient craft. The tasting features regional, organic products baked in the host’s own wood-fired oven.
Tip: Guided hike “World Natural Heritage Site & Distillery”
Beech-spined moss, hedgehog moss, marsh bloodwort… Our nature guides know the Grumsin red beech forest and its inhabitants like the back of their hand. After this exciting forest tour, we’ll head straight to the distillery.
