Guided Tour: "From the Observation Deck to the Cellar Dungeon"

1-hour guided tour available year-round / Registration required

Idyllically situated high on a mountain in the heart of the Unteres Odertal National Park, the Stolper Turm is the landmark of the town of Stolpe near Angermünde. Following its renovation in 2008, the tower—which, according to legend, is also called the “Grützpott”—is now open to the public.

With an outer diameter of 18 m, it is probably the thickest tower castle in Germany. Visitors can reach the upper floor of the tower via a spiral staircase attached to the outside of the tower. The 12th- and 13th-century tower consists of several rooms that are open to the public. Hidden deep underground is the tower’s impressive dungeon. The room with the ribbed dome and the “Angstloch” served as the great hall.
Since 2011, there has been an exhibition here that provides information in three languages about the history of the town and the tower. From the tower’s observation deck, you can enjoy a beautiful view of Unteres Odertal.

You can learn all about the legend of the “Grützpott” and the tower’s purpose during a 1-hour guided tour of the Stolper Turm.
