Franciscan Monastery
The Franciscan monastery church is the only surviving building of the former Franciscan monastery complex near the old city wall and is considered a significant example of North German mendicant Gothic architecture.
, the monastery church is 56 meters long, 18 meters wide, and 28 meters high. It is characterized, on the one hand, by the Franciscans’ typical simple architectural style and, on the other hand, by the delicately crafted molded stones that serve as elaborate decorative ornaments on the bases and capitals.
The monastery church is closed for an indefinite period due to necessary safety and maintenance work.
