Events in the Unteres Odertal National Park - Fall

Thanks to its convenient location, Angermünde is the ideal starting point for exploring the vast and biodiverse Uckermark region—shaped by the Ice Age—as well as the neighboring Polish part of the Unteres Odertal on foot, by bike, or by canoe.

Every month, many exciting events take place in the Unteres Odertal National Park.

Not only are there numerous ranger-led tours with great themes, but the singing afternoons, donkey hikes, screen-printing workshops, herb and wilderness hikes, and crane-watching days are also starting up again with many new event formats.

    Ranger Tour: Crane Migration

    After an introductory talk, experience the evening flight of the cranes as they return to their roosts. Approx. 3 km hike along the dike. 5–20 participants

    Ranger Tour: “Who’s Burping in the Woods?”
    Morning Hike to See Fallow Deer Rutting
    With a little luck, you’ll hear the strange burping sounds of fallow deer during the rutting season on our morning hike through the woods. While enjoying a breakfast you bring yourself, you can learn all about the love life of fallow deer. Approx. 3 hours (7 km hike)

    Herbal Seminar I: Healing Roots
    “Hidden Treasures” – Seminar Series
    A herbal workshop on the healing powers of roots. During our walk, we’ll dig up the roots of comfrey, teasel, and marshmallow, among others, which we’ll then process. We’ll use the comfrey roots to make a medicinal tincture. Min. 5 participants

    Herbal Seminar II: Edible Roots and Fall Fruits
     ’ “Hidden Treasures” Seminar Series

    Part II of the herb seminar is dedicated to edible roots and fall fruits, which are now in season. The roots of “wild greens” are packed with nutrients in the fall. We’ll dig up dandelions, burdock roots, and other roots and taste them—you’ll be amazed at how delicious, for example, the “ham root” (the root of the evening primrose) tastes.
    We’ll gather autumn fruits and nuts that nature has in store for us this late in the year: rose hips, hawthorn berries, acorns, and beechnuts. Acorns, for example, can be used to make delicious dishes once they’ve been de-bittered.
    Using the treasures we’ve gathered, we’ll prepare a delicious herbal meal that we’ll enjoy together. We’ll also share plenty of information about the health benefits of these plants.

    Advent Wreath-Making Workshop

    Let’s get together in a small, cozy group to make our Advent wreaths for the door or table.
    Tools and greenery will be provided; you can purchase straw wreath bases and decorations here or use your old one from last year; feel free to bring your own items to incorporate into the wreath; please bring your own matching candles. Punch and hot soup will be served.

  • December 4, 2026 / 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
    Advent Sewing Circle
    Sewing St. Nicholas Boots and Table Gnomes

    Under the guidance of sewing expert Susi Pester, we’ll sew St. Nicholas boots and table gnomes together. You’ll receive expert step-by-step instructions. Feel free to bring your own sewing machine; otherwise, one will be provided. Use your own fabrics or purchase something suitable here on site. Look forward to a cozy crafting session in a small group. Punch and freshly baked buttered bread will keep you well-fed.
