Events in the Unteres Odertal National Park - Summer

Thanks to its convenient location, Angermünde is the ideal starting point for exploring the vast and biodiverse Uckermark region—shaped by the Ice Age—as well as the neighboring Polish part of the Unteres Odertal on foot, by bike, or by canoe.

Every month, there are many exciting events taking place in the Unteres Odertal National Park.

Not only are there numerous Ranger Tours with great themes, but the singing afternoons, donkey hikes, screen-printing workshops, herb and wilderness hikes, and crane days are also starting up again with many new event formats.

Plant-Based Detergents Made from Soapwort and Other Plants
– The Eco-Friendly Alternatives –
Many plants contain saponins, a secondary plant compound that forms a stable lather in water. Despite the name “sapo” (Latin for “soap”), these are not soap in the strict sense, yet saponins have an amazing cleaning effect. In this workshop, we’ll explore various plant-based detergents, including the local “soap nuts”—horse chestnuts. We’ll also use ivy and soapwort to make a washing solution that everyone can then try out at home at their leisure. Minimum number of participants: 6 people

First Aid with Plants for When You’re on the Go
It can happen so quickly while hiking or during other outdoor activities: you get caught on a root or trip—and suddenly you’ve sprained your ankle. Or the hiking boots that have served you faithfully for years suddenly start rubbing against your heel—a blister is on the way, and your hiking enjoyment is spoiled. For these and many other situations, nature offers us valuable first-aid remedies from the plant kingdom in forests and meadows. In this course, we’ll learn about and reliably identify various plants for your outdoor first-aid kit. (Minimum of 6 participants)

Ranger Tour: Wild Corners of the National Park – Guided Tour for World Ranger Day
What exactly does a ranger do in a protected area and in other parts of the world? Approx. 8 km hike.

Ranger Tour: Long Nature Watch Night – In the Wild Forest
At dusk, we’ll explore the Densenberge Forest and keep an eye out for badgers, fallow deer, and other forest dwellers. Approx. 7 km hike.
Meeting place: National Park Center, 16303 Criewen
Note: Insect repellent required; wear weather-appropriate clothing
August 22, 2026 / 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Ranger Tour: Evening Hike Across the Dry Grasslands
After taking in the view of the floodplain landscape, we’ll set out on an evening hike across the dry grasslandsof the Galower Mountains. With a little luck, we’ll spot fallow deer, roe deer, and other animals. Sunset picnic with a panoramic view of the national park. Approximately 3 km hike.
Meeting point: Stützkow parking lot, located 300 m before 16303 Stützkow
Note: Please bring your own picnic; binoculars and a flashlight are recommended.

Ranger Tour: Bat Night – Up Close with Bats
Together, we’ll get up close and personal with these flying imps and discover what makes them so special. Approx. 2 km hike.
