Groß-Ziethen Eiszeitmuseum Geopark – In the Footsteps of the Ice Age
The Groß-Ziethen Ice Age Geopark Museum invites visitors to discover the fascinating history of the Ice Age. As the central information and education center of the Schorfheide-Chorin UNESCO Global Geopark, the museum vividly illustrates how massive glaciers shaped the landscape of northern Germany.
In the exhibition, visitors learn more about the geological processes of the last ice ages, the formation of typical landforms such as terminal moraines, sandur, and glacial valleys, as well as about ice-age artifacts found in the region. Large display panels, interactive models, and original rock samples bring the geological context to life.
A particular highlight is the outdoor area with its collection of erratic boulders, which features rocks from Scandinavia that were transported here during the Ice Age. The museum also provides information about early human traces in the region and how early humans adapted to the Ice Age climate.
The Geopark Eiszeitmuseum is an ideal destination for nature lovers, those interested in geology, and families who want to embark on an exciting journey into the past.
After the tour, a light snack with coffee, cake, tarte flambée, or pizza invites you to linger and enjoy yourself.
