Looking for a tour guide for Angermünde!

The Angermünde Tourist Information Office offers four different city tours. These include walking tours through the Old Town and theater-themed city tours. The tours are well-received by both residents and visitors. We are looking for new city tour guides.

Angermünde, Uckermark (Brandenburg), August 14, 2024 – The Angermünde Tourism Association (TVA) and its partners offer guided tours focusing on nature and cultural history. Approximately 1,700 guests take advantage of these offerings each year.
Guided tours of Angermünde’s historic city center are the most popular.

Guided Tour of Angermünde – The Team and What They Offer

The team of city guides currently consists of four people. On a 1.5-hour walking tour, they show visitors the historic sights of the Old Town, provide an overview of the city’s history, and share interesting anecdotes. Highlights include visits to St. Mary’s Church, the Heilig-Geist-Kapelle, and “
” in the Pulverturm. A tour of the drying room in the old malt house can also be included in the guided tours.

The Theater City Tours group consists of six people who enjoy using their creativity to act out episodes from the city’s history during a walking tour. There are two theater tours with different themes: “Maids, Power, and Religious Conflict—Angermünde Through the Ages” and “Adventurous Heretic Angermünde.”

The guided tours are booked, for example, for company outings, by residents visiting friends and relatives, or for family celebrations. A large proportion of the participants are also guests spending their vacations in our region. The 2023 guest survey revealed that approximately 70% of nature-oriented vacationers visit Angermünde’s historic city center and are eager to take part in cultural activities such as city tours.

Becoming a City Tour Guide—How Does It Work?

“If you’re interested in the city’s history, enjoy doing things with other people, and would like to show visitors our beautiful Old Town, then the city tour guide team is the perfect fit for you,” says Johanna Henschel, executive director of the Tourismusverein Angermünde e.V. To help with training and as a reference guide, every newcomer receives the handbook “Designing Exciting City Tours.” It compiles the most important facts about the city’s history and provides guidance on structuring the tour. Each newcomer is assigned a coach from the existing team of city guides who is available to answer questions about city tours. It is highly recommended that newcomers accompany their coach on a guided tour.
The Angermünde Museum partners with the Tourismusverein Angermünde e.V. when it comes to the training and continuing education of tour guides. The museum director, Mr. Ralf Gebuhr, and the executive director of the Angermünde Tourism Association, Ms. Johanna Henschel, work together to mentor all new guides, assisting them with questions about the town’s history or organizational matters.
Anyone with acting talent who enjoys “stepping into” a different role is welcome to join the theater tour troupe as a performer.

Education and Training – Programs Offered by the Angermünde Museum

It doesn’t matter at all whether you want to work as a city tour guide in Greiffenberg or Angermünde, whether you’re a tour guide, nature guide, or landscape guide, or whether you’d like to lead tours of historical sites or museums—it’s always important to acquire knowledge for yourself. “At the Angermünde Museum, we place great importance on conveying our city’s history to visitors in an exciting and lively way. Furthermore, as a member of the ‘Working Group of Cities with Historische Stadtkerne in the State of Brandenburg,’ Angermünde is visited by many people who have a keen interest in historic sites and want the city’s history to be presented in a way that is faithful to historical and cultural facts. Our museum also takes this responsibility seriously. For years, the museum has offered events on the culture and history of the city and the surrounding region, which are open to all tour guides for professional development in a relaxed setting.”
