The Source of Knowledge at the World Natural Heritage Site
The Altkünkendorf Information Center is the visitor center for the Buchenwald Grumsin UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site in the Uckermark. It provides information on the formation, flora, and fauna of the protected beech forest and serves as a starting point for hiking and biking tours.
Visitors receive tips on choosing a route and learn more about nature conservation and sustainability. It’s an ideal place to explore the unique forest and moorland landscape of the Buchenwald Grumsin.
Once you’re well-informed, you can set out on your self-guided or guided hike. It’s only about 800 m from here into the forest.

Important Note
Parking spaces are very limited in Altkünkendorf.
Due to the limited parking available, we recommend taking the WelterbeBus (Route 497) from Angermünde. It runs several times a day from April through October.
