Bakery Tour at Bäcker Schreiber in Angermünde
Take a look behind the scenes at a real artisan bakery: On the bakery tour at Bäcker Schreiber in Angermünde, guests get an up-close look at the traditional art of baking.
Since 1896: A family-run baking tradition
Founded by Otto Geistlich in 1896, the art of baking is still practiced today in the old town of Angermünde, in northeastern Brandenburg. Now in its fourth generation as a family-run business, Bäcker Schreiber stands for artisanal quality, a connection to the region, and a living baking tradition.
Flour, dough, and genuine craftsmanship
The tours offer fascinating insights into the workings of an artisan bakery. Participants can specify their own preferences or choose specific areas of focus—such as yeast dough, puff pastry, or bread baking.
Guests don’t just watch—they’re actively invited to participate. This makes the tour a special experience for anyone who wants to get an up-close look at the art of baking.
Roots in the Uckermark
As a small artisan business in the Uckermark region, Schreiber Bakery relies on a network of strong and dedicated partners in the region and beyond. As a member of the Uckermark Bakers’ and Confectioners’ Guild, the business benefits from creative exchanges with colleagues and actively shapes this collaboration. Master baker Klaus Schreiber also serves as the guild’s deputy chief master.
Bäcker Schreiber also has a strong network beyond the region: The bakery is a member of the Berlin-Brandenburg Bakers’ Guild. Joint events and regular quality inspections help ensure that the high quality of the baked goods is consistently maintained.
The Uckermark regional brand is committed to promoting local tourism and involves local craft businesses in its efforts. As a member of the Uckermark Business Association, Bäcker Schreiber is dedicated to fostering a dynamic business environment and participates in jointly organized events. In Angermünde, there are also close partnerships, including with the Angermünde Tourism Association, the Ehm Welk bookstore and publisher, the um-Fleisch & Wild butcher shop, and other regional partners.
For its nationwide distribution, Bäcker Schreiber partners with the regional brand “Von Hier.” Thanks to this partnership, Klosterbrot in a jar is also available at REWE and EDEKA stores in Berlin.
Baked with care, winner of numerous awards

In addition, the bakery bears the certification mark of the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve and has been named one of Germany’s best bakeries on multiple occasions by the gourmet magazine “Der Feinschmecker.” For the quality and marketing of its Christmas butter stollen, Bäcker Schreiber was also awarded third place nationwide in the Stollen-Zacharias competition.
