Garden Tour of the Display and Propagation Garden

At the VERN e.V. display and propagation garden in Greiffenberg/Uckermark, visitors can discover the diversity of heirloom crops and ornamental plants. The Association for the Preservation and Recultivation of Useful Plants—
, or VERN e.V. for short—preserves around 2,000 historic crop varieties and makes them accessible to the general public.

Upon request, VERN e.V. offers guided garden tours. The tours last about an hour and provide fascinating insights into the association’s work, the preservation of heirloom crops, and knowledge about the cultivation, care, and use of this unique plant diversity.

During the tour, guests learn more about rare cultivated plants, their history and significance, as well as the practical work carried out in the display and propagation garden. The association’s mission, its conservation networks, and its commitment to the conservation of plant genetic resources are also highlighted.

VERN e.V. was founded in 1996 and has been working ever since to preserve old and rare crop varieties.
In addition to its practical conservation work, the association is involved in public outreach, education, consulting, and advocacy. Since its founding, VERN has actively contributed to the sustainable development of the Schorfheide-Chorin UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
