Lecture Series: UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site Buchenwald Grumsin 2026

The Schorfheide-Chorin UNESCO Biosphere Reserve is one of Germany’s largest protected areas and part of an extensive EU Special Protection Area for birds. Here, the focus is on the harmonious coexistence of people and nature. The young moraine landscape, with its lakes, beech forests, sandy meadows, richly structured, rolling agricultural landscapes, as well as countless bogs, field ponds, and small bodies of water, is characterized by outstanding scenic beauty, a rich cultural history, and exceptional importance for the preservation of biodiversity.

Right in the middle lies the mighty Buchenwald Grumsin with its untamed heart. Its flora and fauna are so unique that it is an UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site and is strictly protected.

The Buchenwald Grumsin World Natural Heritage Site is associated with many different topics.

The 2026 lecture series on the Buchenwald Grumsin World Natural Heritage Site aims to share valuable insights about the area and reach people who are interested in the various topics related to the World Natural Heritage Site.

You don’t need a car here!
The WelterbeBus Grumsin offers a comfortable and eco-friendly way to get to the lecture series in Altkünkendorf.
