10 Days of Hiking on the Märkischer Landweg—Without Luggage

The full Uckermark experience: That’s what you’ll discover when you set out on the Märkischer Landweg. Spanning 217 kilometers, it winds through all three major protected areas: the Naturpark Uckermärkische Seen, the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve, and the Unteres Odertal National Park. You’ll experience the Uckermark’s natural beauty in all its diverse forms: forests, hills, lakes, fields, and picturesque villages. The trail is marked throughout with a blue cross on a white background
.
The Uckermark’s most famous hiking trail has been awarded the “Qualitätsweg Wanderbares Deutschland” designation. Interested? Let’s go!

On Foot Through the Uckermark

And all without luggage and without having to worry about where to spend the night. Our “
” offer covers nearly the entire “Märkischer Landweg” trail and runs from Lychen to Mescherin on the Oder River. The stage destinations are spaced 10 to 27 kilometers apart.
The route takes you from Lychen – Templin
(approx. 26 km) – Ringenwalde (27 km) – Wolletz (approx. 21 km) – Angermünde
(approx. 10 km) – Stolpe (approx. 15 km) – Schwedt (approx. 24 km) – Heinrichshof
(approx. 17 km) – Mescherin (approx. 19 km).
From Mescherin, passenger and luggage transport back to the starting point in Lychen.

Rafts, Half-Timbered Houses, Franciscans

At the starting point, experience the rafting town of Lychen, nestled among seven lakes, where much
still recalls the centuries-old tradition of rafting.
Hike along lakeshores and through dense forest to Templin, which welcomes you with an idyllic old town and an almost completely preserved city wall. From here, you’ll delve into the
Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve, with the trail winding through the rolling Uckermark countryside to Ringenwalde and from there on to Wolletz. Take a break for a swim in the clear waters of Wolletzsee and visit the NABU Nature Discovery Center at Blumberger Mühle. From there, it’s not far to Angermünde with its historic old town, restored half-timbered houses, and the impressive Franziskanerkloster.

Along the Oder and Welse Rivers

At the end of the next stage, you’ll have (almost) reached the Oder River in Stolpe; climb the hill to the “Grützpott” keep and enjoy an unforgettable view of the Unteres Odertal.
In Schwedt, a town within the national park, enjoy the lively atmosphere along the banks of the Hohensaaten-Friedrichsthaler Waterway, which is simply known here as “the canal.” The route continues for a short distance along the Welse River to Heinrichshof. Finally, the last leg of the route leads back to the Oder River, to the picturesque town of Mescherin.

After a restful night, you’ll drive back from here to Lychen, the starting point of your hike.
